Volunteer On Kauaʻi

If you’d like to volunteer with us, getting started is as easy as … one, two, three!

Now, more than ever, people are facing food insecurity and counting on Hawaii Foodbank Kauaʻi. Volunteers are one of the most integral pillars of our operational framework and we need the help of groups and individuals to provide safe access to food to families affected by the pandemic and to continue to support those who were already struggling with hunger. Step One: Pick a Volunteer Opportunity

Warehouse Assistance
Location

4241 Hanahao Pl. Ste. 101., Līhuʻe, Hawaiʻi 96766

Shift Times and Days

Weekdays
8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Minimum of one (1) hour shift, maximum of eight (8) hours.

Description

Help inspect, sort and pack dry food, produce and bread at our warehouse (4241 Hanahao Pl.). This prepares food for distribution to those in need. Other tasks, include attending to daily cleaning schedules and logs. We can accommodate up to 10 volunteers per shift.

Requirements
Volunteers will be required to stand, lift and bend throughout the duration of the entire shift. Closed toe shoes are required and comfortable clothing is suggested. The minimum age to volunteer is 8 years old. Those 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.
Administrative Support
Location: 4241 Hanahao Pl. Suite 101, Līhuʻe, Hawaiʻi 96766

Shift Times: 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Available Days: Monday through Friday

Description: This position helps the Impact Team of Hawaiʻi Foodbank Kauaʻi complete projects in a timely manner, while extending resources into the community. Position will be required to perform a variety of administrative tasks, to include filing, scanning, mailing, maintaining office space, assisting in coordinating special events, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Must be dependable and punctual. Self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented is a plus. Must respect and maintain confidentiality of Hawaiʻi Food Bank Kauaʻi volunteers, partners, and donors. Computer skills are desired, but not necessary.

CSFP (Senior Food Box) Assistance — Hale Nana Kai O Kea (Kapaʻa Elderly Housing)
Location

Shift Times and Days

9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Available Days: Last Friday of the Month

Description

Duties include picking up senior boxes from 4241 Hanahao Pl. A, located in Puhi Industrial and delivering to distribution site listed. Collect signatures of receipt from CSFP participants using the form provided and turn in signed sheets to Agency Relations & Kūpuna Programs Manager.

Requirements
Minimum age is 16 years of age, (must obtain valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance). Volunteers will be required to stand, lift and bend throughout the duration of the entire shift. Closed toe shoes are required and comfortable clothing is suggested.
CSFP (Senior Food Box) Assistance — Kapaʻa Missionary Church

4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Available Days: Fourth Saturday of the Month

CSFP (Senior Food Box) Assistance – Līhuʻe Gardens Elderly Housing

9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Available Days: 3rd Thursday of the Month

Description

Duties include picking up senior boxes from 4241 Hanahao Pl. A, located in Puhi Industrial and delivering to distribution site listed. Collect signatures of receipt from CSFP participants using the form provided and turn in signed sheets to Agency Relations & Kūpuna Programs Manager.

Description

Duties include picking up senior boxes from 4241 Hanahao Pl. A, located in Puhi Industrial and delivering to distribution site listed. Collect signatures of receipt from CSFP participants, turn in signed sheets to Agency/Administrative Manager.

Requirements

Description

Throughout the year Hawaiʻi Foodbank Kauaʻi participates in numerous events island wide varying from Pop-up Food Distribution sites, Annual Food/Fund Drive Day, fundraising, food packing, and/ or participating in events hosted by the community. When a volunteer opportunity arises, an e-mail will be sent out. Special events are a great way to volunteer when you are unable to commit to a regular schedule.

Complete this application form if you are interested in becoming a Hawaiʻi Foodbank Kauaʻi volunteer. Separate applications are required per person.

Court Mandated Volunteer Application
This application form is for COURT MANDATED volunteers. Complete this application form if you’re performing court mandated community service.

Step Three: We'll reach out to you!

Volunteer orientation is required for all new warehouse volunteers. If you would like to help out with distributions or are looking to volunteer with a group, we will send you more information about getting scheduled. Once you’ve submitted your volunteer application form, you’ll receive an email from volunteer@hawaiifoodbankkauai.org with further instruction about volunteering.
